Abstract
This paper is concerned with the magnetic range order in diluted ionic compounds of spinel structure. When the concentration of magnetic ions decreases, long range order decays into short range order and disappears for a critical concentration. The critical concentrations are calculated from the de Gennes approximation for the (A) and (B) sublattices and for the whole crystal. That allow us to derive the phase diagram of magnetic range order. Neutron diffraction experiments as well as magnetic measurements reveal the disappearance of long range magnetic order with the dilution on both sublattices and the transition between two different magnetic orders with the dilution on one sublattice only. In both cases, short range magnetic order is already present well above the percolation threshold. Experimental results are in good agreement with the diagram. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
