Abstract
In the present paper the general conditions for the growth of whiskers by vapor deposition is considered. If several reactions are available to grow a given crystal phase, that reaction with the lowest entropy of reaction will allow the growth of near‐perfect crystals, at the largest temperature difference between source crystals and growing crystals. Keywords
