Abstract
One hundred and fifty-five patients who had spontaneous deliveries, and 32 delivered by forceps or ventouse, were interviewed for up to 6 days postpartum, to discover the incidence of backache, headache, and bladder disturbance. The questionnaire was identical to that used for patients delivered under epidural block. The incidence of backache was 40% for spontaneous deliveries, 25% for forceps/ventouse; headache was 22.3% and 25% respectively, and bladder dysfunction 14.2% and 37.5% respectively.
