Abstract
The Spencer-Fano method of moments is extended to make possible numerical computation of the transport of radiation from point or line sources in media whose macroscopic cross sections depend on one Cartesian coordinate. Convergence is satisfactory if the scattering angular distribution is a low-order polynomial in cosθ. Sample calculations of the scalar flux and total upward current per unit area are presented for a point source at the center of a plane-parallel slab two mean free paths thick. Keywords
