Abstract
It is shown that the states produced from the vacuum by subharmonic- and harmonic-generation processes are nonclassical for all times. This is a consequence of the Manley-Rowe relations. The stability of the nonclassical nature of these states under small perturbations (such as noise) is also discussed. Keywords
