Abstract
The age at which the anterior fontanelle closed in 1677 infants varied between 4 and 26 months, with 90% between 7 and 19 months. In the first year, 41.6% closed, of which 2.7% occurred by 6 months and 13.5% by 9 months. Compared to data in older textbooks, this suggests a trend towards earlier closure of the fontanelle. Keywords
