Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 19-year-old woman was admitted to another hospital because of fever.She was well until three weeks earlier, when she experienced the abrupt onset of diffuse pain, fatigue and anorexia. Two weeks before admission the temperature rose to 38.3°C, with headaches that responded to aspirin. A daily rise of the temperature to 40°C followed, accompanied by chills, sweats and a nocturnal cough productive of white sputum. A rash appeared on the left side of the nose and left cheek 10 days before entry and improved in one week; herpetic lesions developed on the lips. During the week . . .
