Abstract
In unfavorable culture media, the rotifers, multiplying by parthenogenesis become depressed, declining in vitality in successive generations, as do the Ciliate Protozoa; they show much lowered fecundity and longevity. Under some conditions this decline is cumulative, ending in final death of the lines of descent. In contrast to the Protozoa, the rotifers when brought back to a favorable medium at once recover their normal fecundity and longevity. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
