Abstract
A review is given of the literature on methods available for improving retention of dental prostheses by implantation of anchoring devices in the jaws. Different aspects of the problem concerning material characteristics, surgical procedures, loading and technicality of prostheses are considered. Various parameters for evaluation of clinical results are reviewed including a variety of anamnestic interpretations and complications. On the basis of this review a summarizing discussion of dental implants is presented. Keywords
