Abstract
Trehalase activity has been localized histochemically within the cortical tubules of the human, rabbit, and mouse kidneys. The specific localization of the enzyme supports the hypothesis that trehalase, in concert with a series of other enzymes which synthesize trehalose from glucose, functions in a mechanism for the reabsorption of glucose from the glomerular filtrate. Keywords
