Abstract
A simple scale platform device was developed to measure the average weight borne by the right and left foot and to record the side-to-side weight-shifting activity during standing posture. Utilizing this device, we have established the ranges of variability in weight distribution of forty normal men during comfortable standing posture and during attempts to stand as erect as possible. These standards provide a basis for comparing abnormal weight distribution of patients with neurological and orthopedic disabilities before and after treatment procedures directed toward improving weight-bearing ability. Keywords
