Topological charge of lattice gauge theories

Abstract
An expression is suggested for the topological charge of lattice gauge theories. The distribution of this quantity is calculated in the SU(2) theory by means of the Monte Carlo method. It is found that the topological susceptibility is finite on sufficiently asymmetric lattices.
