Abstract
From pure blood pigment of horse, hemoglobin and oxyhemo-globin were crystallized in several forms. Transition forms with partial O saturation were not observed. In the Hb4 particles, the 4 Hb molecules are probably arranged in tetrahedron form. The 4 hemin groups attract each other. Change in crystal form when Hb unites with O is due to separation of these 4 hemin groups. Crystallized hemoglobin from horse blood is a mixture of several hemoglobins.
