Abstract
TREDAT is a data base system which permits the results of field trials of species, provenances and other sub-specific taxa to be stored and selectively retrieved to assist in the choice of planting material for nominated localities and end uses. Information on the environment of the field site and the management practices used, which is essential to understanding environmental limits and cultural requirements, is included. The system has been developed coliaboratively by the Queensland Department of Forestry and CSIRO, and now contains a substantial set of data from Queensland. Sub-sets of the records can be extracted for specific purposes and may be taken in as data by a variety of data base management software. In due course it will be possible to prepare species-level summaries which may be held in tabular form as an extension of the initial data base or published in textual form. Keywords
