Abstract
A method of calculating the frequency response of a piezoelectric bimorph of PZT ceramic is proposed. Unlike the uncoupled theory, where the electric field through the thickness of a beam is assumed to be constant, the proposed method where the coupled field effect is accounted for in a simple manner gives improved results. A finite element method is developed for a coupled field problem (piezoelectric material) and the results are utilized in deriving the coefficients of assumed linear electric field in the beam. Keywords
