Abstract
The symmetry of the normal modes of vibration of CS2 and Cl2 are analysed at points and lines of high symmetry in and on the surface of the Brillouin zone. The results of Waeber (1969) for Ga which has the same structure as Cl2 differ from the authors in certain small but important respects. Keywords
