Abstract
It is my aim in this review article to present a personal view of the highlights in rock magnetism research in North America over the past four years. In a previous review (Banerjee, 1975), rock magnetism was presented in terms of “its applications to paleomagnetic, and hence geological and geophysical problems.” This is an extremely important aspect of rock magnetism research and in the past four years rock magnetism has made several important contributions to complex paleomagnetic problems. However, we must not lose sight of the fact that rock magnetism is a legitimate science in its own right. Keywords
