Abstract
Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis is a severe form of conjunctivitis associated with edema, pain and photophobia. Systemic symptoms, such as fever, are not usually present. Round subepithelial infiltrates located primarily in the center of the cornea are seen in some patients. Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis may cause severe and sometimes prolonged morbidity, as noted in the description of an extensive outbreak of the disease by Sprague et al. in this issue of the Journal.
