Effects of Impurities on Higher Order Phase Transitions

Measurements of the linear thermal expansion coefficient $\alpha$ of Gd crystals have shown that $T_c$ as well as the temperature dependence of $\alpha$ is a function of the electron-impurity mean free path. These results have allowed us to infer the temperature dependence of the coherence length $\xi$.
