Abstract
A new method for controlling the shape of an optical mirror which does not require any reaction against a support structure is described. A computer analysis has been made for a sample case of a simple, thin disc, and the required distribution of control points established for direct control of the first ten terms of a Zernike polynominal expansion describing the surface shape.Keywords
