Abstract
Anhydrous GdBr3 has a monoclinic layer structure. The arrangement is pseudohexagonal with “honey‐comb” layers of Gd ions separated by two hexagonal bromine layers. Canted antiferromagnetic ordering of the Gd moments is observed below 2°K with a net remanent moment normal to the axis of the pseudohexagonal structure.
