Abstract
When Louise Brown was born in a hospital in England in 1978, a new page in medical history was written. Tiny Louise was the first “test tube baby,” given life through a new process called in vitro fertilization that offers couples with a long history of infertility one more opportunity to conceive. Currently, only a small number of medical centers in the United States have established successful in vitro fertilization programs. Drs Rakoff and DiMarzo describe the Scripps experience with a procedure that some investigators believe may eventually become the treatment of choice for infertility. Keywords
