Observation of $H_{β}$ Satellites in the Presence of Turbulent Electric Fields

Abstract

Satellites on either side of the

H_{β}

line of hydrogen are reported at a displacement from

H_{β}

corresponding to the plasma frequency

ω_{p}

and twice such frequency. This anomalous behavior of the

H_{β}

transition is correlated with an oscillating electric field associated with plasma turbulence.
