Abstract
Urinary [human] macromolecules from 1000-50,000 daltons were concentrated by ultrafiltration and separated by Sephadex G-75 gel filtration chromatography. Fractions were assayed for Ca binding activity, uronicacid content and tested for their effect on calcium oxalate seeded crystal growth. The calcium binding material inhibited calcium oxalate crystal growth and the degree of inhibition was directly related to uronic acid content. The role of these macromolecules in calcium oxalate stone formation is discussed. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
