Abstract
For a system consisting of a cation exchange membrane, potassium chloride and water, the complete matrix of the phenomenological transport coefficients appearing in the linear laws of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes is determined under isothermal conditions. The experiments are carried out at different mean salt concentrations to study the concentration dependence of the transport coefficients. The symmetry relations of Onsager are used to check the consistency of the experimental results. The results are discussed in terms of the model of the membrane with narrow pores.
