Abstract
Eighty-six patients with chronic anterior uveitis were followed up for an average of five years after cataract surgery. In most cases the course of the uveitis was favorably influenced: inflammatory signs were reduced in 70% and the frequency of recurrence in 94%. With regard to the postoperative course, there was no significant difference between the eyes in which an iris suture had been performed and those in which it had not. One should therefore not hesitate to remove cataracts in patients with chronic uveitis. Keywords
