Abstract
To the Editor: In the October 30 issue, the Coronary Drug Project Research Group presented a thoughtful analysis of mortality in relation to adherence and cholesterol response. Two kinds of comments are warranted — the first is related to their analysis, and the second to their conclusions.In Table 3 of the article, five-year mortality data are presented according to base-line cholesterol and subsequent change. Although the base-line categories are precisely defined, the magnitude of fall or rise of cholesterol is not indicated. One would like to know the definition of "fall" and "rise" before accepting the controversial facts presented . . .
