Abstract
The concept of leadership is a major issue in Western society. In education, new directions to the study of leadership are apparent. This article proposes a re-conceptualization that focuses on the individual, on future consciousness, and on outcome behaviors. The psychotherapeutic model of Rational-Emotive Theory is presented as a basis for identifying new strategies for effective leadership in the future. An application of this reconceptualization is made to leadership training programs in educationKeywords
