Abstract
Microfilariae of Dirofilaria repens were transfused intravenously into a clean dog.In the new host they showed well marked nocturnal periodicity similar to that shown in the donor dog, although no adult worms were present in the recipient. This confirms the conclusion previously reached on other grounds that the periodicity of microfilariae does not depend upon the adult worms. The microfilariae persisted in the new host up to 68 days.
