Abstract
The increase in the ratio [chlorophyll a]/[chlorophyll b] which occurs in expanding bean leaves in the dark, is a result of chlorophyll a formation with a concomitant loss in chlorophyll b. The analytical methods for assay of these pigments were examined closely and found to be adequate for this purpose when proper safeguards are taken. Keywords
