Abstract
Measurements of the dielectric constants, electromechanical coupling coefficients, elastic compliances, spontaneous polarization and linear thermal expansion as functions of the temperature were carried out for tetragonal compositions of xBa(Ca1/3Nb2/3)O3-(1-x)[Pb(Zr y Ti1-y )O3]. Studies of the dielectric properties and crystal structures under a varying electric field were also made in connection with the phase transition. From these experimental studies, overall characteristics were found to resemble those of PLZT. On the basis of a previously introduced model for PLZT, the nature of the phase change between paraelectric cubic and ferroelectric tetragonal phases is briefly discussed.
