Abstract
Summary The effect of chloroquine and pyrimethamine on visceral leishmaniasis in the hamster was studied using the screening method of Stauber et al. Neither pyrimethamine at 10 mg/kg/day for 6 days or chloroquine at 100 mg/kg/day for a total of 12 days inhibited the multiplication of Leishmania donovani in the hamster liver. However, reasons are presented for using caution in interpreting the negative results obtained in this study. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
