Abstract
In para-thyroidectomized dogs Mg lactate is an effective agent for prevention of tetany. Such dogs when kept free from tetany for about 40 days became readjusted to loss of the parathyroids; and the sedative effect of Mg greatly reduced the excitability of the central nervous system. Mg tended to keep the serum Ca content above the tetany level. Lactate of Cd, Na, and K did not prevent tetany in the parathyroidectomized animals. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
