Abstract
This article is a practical guide to using policies and procedures, communication, documentation, and training to demonstrate compliance with HIPAA mandates. Practice examples are used to show how the case manager can use inservice education to advance the HIPAA training requirements, as well as increase individual skills and provide continuing education opportunities. It identifies case managers as leaders and advocates for their clients' new privacy rights and shows how communications are affected by the advent of the Privacy Rule. Keywords
