Abstract
This paper is concerned with the stress concentration factors round loaded circular elastic or rigid interference-fit pins in elastic plates in states of generalized plane stress. States of all-round tension and simple tension at infinity are considered and it is assumed that there is either no slip or no shearing stress at the surface of the pin. A comparison is made between the solutions for a rigid pin with load balanced by an isolated force and that for a rigid pin with load balanced by infinitesimal stress at infinity.
