Abstract
The control of emissions of oxides of nitrogen from resource recovery facilities is becoming an increasingly important consideration in environmental permitting of new facilities. California presently has strict emission standards in place and other states are considering such standards. This paper reviews the theory of solid fuel combustion, and NOx formation and control in the context of solid waste combustion. The paper further discusses available control technology and its application to facilities burning solid waste. Keywords
