Abstract
The test dose of epinephrine (2 ml. of a 1-100,000 diln.), which regularly caused reflex slowing of the heart rate before Dibenamine, caused severe acceleration after Dibenamine attributable to direct action of epinephrine on the sino-auricular node and to reflex acceleration from a. fall in blood pressure. Thecardio-accelerator response to acetylcholine was prolonged by Dibenamine. The cardio-inhibitory response to pitressin and to angiotonin was not prevented by Dibenamine. It is concluded that Dibenamine reverses the pressor action of epinephrine in unanesthetized dogs without preventing the cardio-accelerator response, and that Dibenamine does not prevent the vasoconstrictor action of pitressin or angiotonin.
