Abstract
The doorway-hallway model of fine structure is extended to the case of an additional doorway state, the analog resonance, which is assumed not to have any associated hallway states. The analog resonance acts as a simple probe of the coupled doorway-hallway system and produces a characteristic destructive interference in the fine structure at a particular point in the spectrum—indicating the presence of a nearby doorway state. Keywords
