Abstract
A factor analysis of the Children's Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale was conducted with a biracial sample of children over a wide age range. The Scale was analyzed for 368 10 to 17 year old students in a rural community. Three factors had sufficient item loadings to be interpretable. They were related to Personal Control and Helplessness, Achievement and Friendship, and Luck. These three factors corresponded to the three dimensions identified by Nowicki (1976). Race, sex, and age relationships are also reported for these three factors. Keywords
