Abstract
Summary: Demineralised water, prepared from tap-water by treatment with mixed anion and cation exchange resins, has been examined by means of the tests of the British Pharmacopœia for distilled water. It has also been subjected to a more detailed analysis. The results show that providing a correct demineralising technique is used and that only water of specific resistance greater than 1 megohm cm., is collected, the purity of the product is at least equal to that of distilled water, B.P. It is suggested that the monograph on distilled water in the British Pharmacopœia should be amended so that demineralised water of suitable purity can be included within it.Keywords
