Abstract
Field measurements have been made in d.c. discharges in tubes of 36.5 and 23.6 mm internal diameter, for neon-argon and helium-argon mixtures, together with mercury, at wall temperatures from 30 to 60° C, discharge currents from 0.3 to 4 A and rare-gas pressures from 0.5 to 5 mm. The 40° C results for each tube diameter have been represented by empirical equations suitable for computer evaluation, and field values obtained from these are given. Keywords
