Abstract
An improved computational two-cavity model of the soliton laser proposed and designed by Mollenauer and Stolen [Opt. Lett. 9, 13 (1984)] is obtained through refinements of (i) the laser cavity model, (ii) the pulse propagation in the fiber cavity, and (iii) the coupling between the two cavities. As a result of the coupling to the fiber cavity, stable output pulses of temporal width 7.5 psec from the laser cavity are narrowed by a factor of approximately 10.Keywords
