Properties of theζ(1480)

Abstract
A novel analysis technique of p¯n annihilations at rest has recently brought strong evidence for a new state, called here ζ, of mass 1477 ± 5 and width 116 ± 9 MeV/c2, which contributes dominantly to the 3π2π+ final state. An analysis has been made of the 3π2π+ considering all known intermediate states. It is found that only the cascade p¯nπζ and ζ2ρ0 with ζ quantum numbers 0+, 2++ (IG,JPC) describes 3π2π+. The product branching ratio B(p¯nπζ)B(ζ2ρ) is large, equal to (11.1 ± 0.8)%. The ζ is a good candidate as a quasinuclear N¯N bound state or as a Q¯2Q2 state or, perhaps, as a glueball.
