Abstract
Screen printing of palladium-doped carbon strips results in the construction of disposable amperometric sensors for formaldehyde. These sensors rely on the strong electrocatalytic action of the dispersed palladium particles contributing to the reduction of formaldehyde. The electrocatalytic behaviour, sensor optimization and analytical performance are reported. The low detection limit (2 × 10–6 mol l–1) is accompanied by a wide linear range and high selectivity. Application for assays of various samples is demonstrated. The new single-use sensor strips should facilitate on-site environmental and industrial monitoring of formaldehyde. Keywords
