Juvenilizing Activity of Compounds Related to the Juvenile Hormone Against Pupae of the Stable Fly1

Abstract
Of 62 compounds tested topically against pupae of Stomoxys calcitrans (L.) for morphogenetic activity (expressed by production of pupal-adult intermediates), 6 were highly active at a dose of 10 ng, Five of the 6 were epoxides of arylterpenoid compounds with a 9-carbon backbone, and 1 was an aryl carbamate N-substituted by an 8-carbon epoxide. The 6 compounds had either no or para substituents on the phenyl ring. Substitutions made at the meta and ortho position, reduced the morphogenetic activity.
