Abstract
An asymptotic approach based upon Lundquist equations is developed for the study of nonlinear wave propagation on a pinched cylindrical plasma. Wave speed and asymptotic evolution equations are derived. A comparison between linear stability criteria and results of the nonlinear theory is made and a set of refined stability criteria is obtained.Keywords
