Thermal Conductivity Measurements of Nickel-Cadmium Aerospace Cells

Abstract
Dissolution rates for the zinc face of single crystals were measured as a function of potential in solutions. In the absence of light, there was no potential dependency between −1.2 and +3.0V vs. SCE. Upon irradiation with light of sufficient energy to produce electron‐hole pairs, a potential dependent dissolution process was superimposed on the continuing potential independent process. The results are interpreted on the basis of a combination of both electrochemical and chemical dissolution processes.
