Abstract
A numerical technique for the solution of one-dimensional parabolic free interface (Stefan) problems is discussed. The method of lines is employed to approximate the partial differential equations at discrete time levels by free interface problems for ordinary differential equations which are solved by conversion to initial value problems. Comments on multiphase problems and a numerical example round out the discussion.Keywords
