Abstract
Interaction with an external harmonic or magnetic field can be introduced into the planar, gauged, nonlinear Schrödinger equation by a coordinate transformation. Correspondingly, the known vortex-soliton solutions are transformed into periodic solutions in the presence of these external fields. This shows that vortex solitons bind to the external fields and their binding energy may be quantized semi-classically.Keywords
