Abstract
A case of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome with unusual course is described. Pain and ophthalmoplegia were both relatively late manifestations preceded for several weeks by progressive involvement of the optic nerve. The importance of also bearing this condition in mind in atypical cases is stressed, since early diagnosis and corticosteroid treatment distinctly reduce the risk of severe residual symptoms. Keywords
